A major search and rescue operation was launched on the River Towy in Carmarthen after reports of a person in the water, but no one was found.
Search launched after report
The multi-agency operation began after 10pm on Tuesday evening following a report from a member of the public of someone possibly entering the water.
Dyfed-Powys Police, HM Coastguard and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended, with searches taking place on foot, by boat, helicopter and drone.
Extensive searches but no one located
Extensive searches were carried out, but nobody was located. The search concluded after enquiries by emergency teams confirmed that an object was thrown into the water and mistaken for an individual by a concerned witness, said Dyfed-Powys Police.
"We always take reports of this nature seriously and would like to thank our partners for their assistance," a spokesperson for the force said.
