A man has been airlifted to hospital in Newcastle after falling from a roof at a factory in Hawick.
Multiple emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to Liddesdale Road in the west end of the town on Thursday afternoon, July 23, following reports of a serious incident.
Footage from the scene showed paramedics arriving on a helicopter in the Borders before leaving the area later after landing in a park near the incident.
Police Scotland confirmed officers were called at around 3.20pm after receiving a report of a man injured after falling from height.
The injured man was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.
Incident at former Lyle & Scott premises
It is understood the incident happened at the former Lyle & Scott premises in the town. The factory has been closed there for a number of years.
The Scottish luxury fashion and knitwear brand was founded in Hawick in 1874 and is well known historically for its golfing knitwear. In more recent years it's become known by younger customers for its tracksuits and sportswear.
The circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear, but the police told the Record that the Health and Safety Executive will be informed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.20pm on Thursday, 23 July, 2026, we received a report of a man injured after falling from height in Liddesdale Road, Hawick. He was being taken by air ambulance to Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Health and Safety Executive will be informed."
