Levi Davidson, 40, was shot dead during a memorial service in Acton, in what police described as a "senseless act of violence." He died at the scene on Braybrook Street after multiple shots were fired at around 7.45pm on October 2.
Members of the public reported hearing bangs and a disturbance at the junction with Erconwald Street, next to Wormwood Scrubs Open Space. The Metropolitan Police has launched a murder investigation, and no arrests had been made when the force issued a statement appealing for information on the evening of October 3.
Life taken in a senseless act of violence
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of a man whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence." He added: "We understand a large number of people had gathered for a memorial service and what should have been a time to come together in remembrance has instead left a family devastated."
DCI Howie said between 40 and 50 people, including children, were present when the incident occurred. "Someone knows what happened and we need them to come forward," he said.
Witness appeal ramped up
Investigators are seeking anyone who was around Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, the surrounding roads or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm on the day of the shooting. DCI Howie asked: "Did you see anyone carrying or concealing weapons, people on bicycles acting suspiciously, or vehicles being driven at speed?"
He also appealed for photographs, video, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage, or anything seen on social media. "However insignificant it may seem, the smallest piece of information could prove crucial in helping us establish what happened and identify those responsible," he said.
Cordon around several roads
Photos taken at the crime scene last week show a large cordon encompassing several roads, the park, and the Old Oak Community Centre. Forensics officers in protective clothing were seen gathering evidence from the pavement and shrubbery.
