Fareham Police Station Evacuated Over Suspected Unexploded Bomb

A police station in Hampshire was evacuated after a suspected unexploded ordnance device was handed in. Officers established a 100-metre cordon around Fareham station on Saturday, November 22, following the incident reported at 1:46pm.

The Royal Navy's Ordnance Explosive Disposal team was called to the scene to assist. Nearby buildings were also evacuated as a precautionary measure. The team safely removed the device, allowing the cordon to be lifted and officers to return to the station.

Hampshire Police have not disclosed further details about the nature of the device. The term 'unexploded ordnance' (UXO) covers any weapon that has not yet detonated.

This incident follows a similar event earlier in the week, when a suspected grenade was discovered at an Age UK charity shop warehouse in Leicester city centre. The bomb squad was called on Tuesday afternoon after volunteers found the item in a shoebox donated from a house clearance.
