Croydon Fire: Hindu Temple Blaze Engulfs Building, 70 Firefighters

A major fire has broken out at a warehouse converted into a Hindu temple in Croydon, south London, prompting a large emergency response. Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze at the London Croydon Sri Nagapoosani Amman Hindu temple on Elmwood Road.

Half the Building Engulfed

According to priest and temple owner Siva Kumara Sarma, speaking to MyLondon, half of the building is now engulfed in flames. Mr. Sarma, who is currently in Canada, learned of the devastating news from the landlord. He expressed his distress, stating, "I am very worried, I don't know what to do."

No Injuries Reported

As of the latest updates, there have been no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations will likely follow once the blaze is under control. Fire crews continue to work to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties.
