Police close investigation into Barmouth beach death

North Wales Police have closed their investigation into the death of a 34-year-old man in Barmouth after a 24-year-old man arrested in connection with the case was released with no further action.

Ruhul Amin Nana, a teacher from Ettington Road, Birmingham, died following an incident in the water at Barmouth beach on Monday, May 25. Emergency services were called to reports of a man in the water shortly after 3pm. Mr Nana was later confirmed dead at Barmouth lifeboat station.

Arrest and release

A 24-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder and was later released on bail while detectives continued their enquiries. North Wales Police has now confirmed he has been released with no further action and that the police investigation has been closed.

Report to coroner

A report is being compiled and will be submitted to the coroner. Mr Nana's family has been informed.
