Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man on a bus in west London. Haruun Hassan was attacked on a bus in Hounslow in the early hours of Tuesday morning, June 30.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to the junction of Bath Road and Great Southwest Road at approximately 1:45am, where they found Mr. Hassan suffering from serious knife wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensic teams spent Tuesday gathering evidence along the A4, with a double-decker bus cordoned off inside a police perimeter. Photographs from the scene showed yellow evidence markers scattered within the cordon, along with discarded first aid equipment and clothing.
Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses
No arrests have been made so far. Mr. Hassan's next-of-kin are being supported by specially trained officers. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Haruun’s family during this tremendously difficult time. We know there were a number of people on the bus at this time, and we urge those people, or anyone with information, to contact police as a matter of urgency. My team continues to make enquiries and our investigation remains ongoing. We are committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible for Haruun’s death.”
The Met believes several passengers would have witnessed the stabbing. Witnesses and residents of nearby houses are being asked to provide any CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage.
