Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Rochdale. Officers were called to a report for the concern for the welfare of an individual at a property on Curzon Road.
Police called to Kirkholt area
Police attended the Kirkholt area of the town shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, October 7. Other emergency services also attended the incident. The man was confirmed dead at the scene. No further details about the victim have been released.
His next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. The arrested man remains in custody, police said.
Detectives keeping an open mind
Detectives are 'keeping an open mind' and 'exploring all lines of enquiry'. Police say a cordon is likely to remain in place for several days whilst detectives thoroughly investigate the tragedy.
Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt, from GMP, said in a statement issued this afternoon: "Firstly, our thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died, and we have officers assigned to support them through this difficult time. An investigation is underway and officers are working at pace to establish the circumstances which led to this man's death. We currently have a man in custody for questioning and ask the public to refrain from speculating at this time. This is a live investigation, and we are currently exploring all avenues of enquiry and keeping an open mind. A scene will remain in place for several days.
