Family Tribute to Dad Found Dead in Hotel Room

The wife of Graham Smith, a 42-year-old father of two from Lostock Hall, Lancashire, has paid an emotional tribute to him after he was found dead in a hotel room in Cheltenham on June 11 this year.

Death at Queens Hotel

Graham Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at the Queens Hotel in Cheltenham. Born in Preston, he worked as a strategic projects director. An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Preston Coroners' Court on Thursday, July 2.

Senior Coroner Chris Long confirmed that the cause of death was consistent with Graham having taken his own life. A final inquest is scheduled for October 27.

Wife's Heartfelt Tribute

Following Graham's death, his wife shared a heartfelt tribute online, accompanied by photographs of him with their sons, Corey and Olly. She described him as: "My handsome husband, much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend, but above all else, the proud and devoted dad of Corey and Olly."

She highlighted his many talents and passions: "Graham was a goalkeeping extraordinaire, an outstanding cook, keen hiker, golfer, Bob Graham support expert and self-appointed General Knowledge World Champion. He was a man who was always factually correct… according to Graham."

She added: "He was a master of the wind-up and a proud wearer of Crocs, often in places where Crocs really shouldn’t have been. His humour, kindness, loyalty and ability to tell you exactly why your facts, directions or opinions were wrong will be remembered by everyone lucky enough to have known him."
