Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a 45-year-old British national of Zimbabwean descent, has been arrested in Johannesburg, South Africa, in connection with the suspected murder of his wife and two daughters in Bedfordshire. The arrest followed an intensive operation involving the SAPS Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit, the South African Police Service (Saps) confirmed in a statement on X on Friday.
Details of the Arrest
Tshuma was detained in Kensington, Johannesburg, after a coordinated effort by South African authorities. He is known to use the name Mark. Saps stated that the suspect was located and arrested “through swift operational coordination and intelligence-led policing”. The force confirmed that Tshuma is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
The Victims
The bodies of Tshuma’s wife, 42-year-old Zandile, and their two daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were discovered deceased in a £1.3 million detached property on Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, near Bedford. The alarm was raised on Monday after the family had not been seen for several days.
Investigation and Extradition
Bedfordshire Police are working with international partners to secure Tshuma’s extradition to the UK. The investigation into the deaths is ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed a cause of death. The family’s sudden and tragic loss has shocked the local community, with neighbours describing them as a quiet and private family.
