Morning rush hour trains in Glasgow were cancelled on Monday due to an emergency incident on the railway line. ScotRail confirmed that emergency services were dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston, prompting significant disruption for commuters.
Emergency Services Respond
Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) stated they were alerted by British Transport Police at 6:53 am. As of 7:50 am, three fire appliances were at the scene. A ScotRail social media post advised: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston. Trains through the station will be cancelled, delayed or revised."
Alternative Travel Arrangements
ScotRail implemented ticket acceptance with Midland Blue buses on routes between Glasgow via Denny and Cumbernauld, and Falkirk via Bonnybridge and Cumbernauld. Phil Campbell, ScotRail's customer operations director, said: "ScotRail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston have been disrupted this morning while the emergency services attend an incident along the route." He added that passengers delayed by 30 minutes or more are eligible for compensation through the delay repay guarantee.
Casualty on Tracks
A British Transport Police spokesperson reported: "We were called to an area of the line in Springburn at around 7:45 am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries." The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The disruption caused chaos for morning commuters, with many facing delays and cancellations. ScotRail urged passengers to check their journeys before traveling and to allow extra time.
