Scotland's 'Disneyland for dogs' up for sale: dream job for dog lovers
Scotland's 'Disneyland for dogs' up for sale

Hilltop Doggy Day Care, described as Scotland's 'Disneyland for dogs', is on the market, offering a unique opportunity for a dog lover to take over the thriving business. Located just outside Hawick in the Scottish Borders, the eight-acre facility sees nearly 10,000 dog visits annually.

Facilities and growth potential

The purpose-built site includes a newly refurbished dog activity barn, five secure adventure fields, dog parkour equipment, a sensory garden with bark and sand pits, and paddling pools. Additionally, four extra acres are available for expansion. The business has seen revenues grow by 33% in the past 12 months.

Strategic location near Centre Parcs

The daycare is expected to sit opposite the new £450 million Centre Parcs development, which is projected to attract around 250,000 visitors each year when it opens in 2029. This could boost demand for dog-focused services from holidaymakers.

Founders' vision

Founded in 2023 by Jon and Mhairi MacLeod-Dunford, Hilltop has grown into one of the region's best-known pet businesses. Jon said: 'We've always wanted Hilltop to be somewhere dogs genuinely can't wait to visit - a place that's full of fun, exercise and enrichment every single day. Building the business has been an incredible experience and we're hugely proud of what the team has achieved. Now we're excited to find someone who shares that same passion for dogs and can take Hilltop into its next chapter. For the right person, it's a chance to turn a love of dogs into a career.'

Daily operations

Daily 'doggy buses' collect dogs from towns including Selkirk, Hawick, Melrose, and Galashiels. The business offers a full day of exercise, companionship, and fun for the four-legged clients.

Expressions of interest are now being invited. For more information, visit the Hilltop website.
