Liverpool are closing in on a blockbuster transfer for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with the French champions now willing to accept a fee between £110m and £120m.
PSG lower asking price for Barcola
French outlet Jeunes Footeux reports that PSG are offering a "discount" on their initial valuation of around £145m for the France international. The Parisian powerhouses are now prepared to negotiate with Liverpool for a sum between £110m and £120m, viewing the concession as a "small gesture" to prompt the Reds into intensifying their pursuit.
However, the report cautions that "PSG are under no obligation to sell" and will resist being more "generous" with their revised price tag. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also indicated that a deal is set to "accelerate", with Liverpool "pushing" to finalise it.
Reds' attacking options thin
Liverpool are short on attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season. Andoni Iraola's side defeated Como 2-0 on Sunday, with new defensive signings Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo featuring, but the club have only recruited young Spanish winger Victor Munoz in attack.
With Mohamed Salah departed and Luis Diaz not replaced last summer - a decision that undermined former manager Arne Slot - and striker Hugo Ekitike sidelined with a long-term injury, Liverpool's senior forward options are limited to Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Munoz.
Alisson stays after Juventus interest
Additional information has emerged regarding Juventus' unsuccessful attempt to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson. The Serie A club made an initial approach, but their bid was deemed inadequate, and Liverpool have decided to retain the 33-year-old following a contract extension.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated on his podcast that Juventus' primary target was Alisson and that the player and club "had already reached an agreement", with the Brazilian even choosing his shirt number. However, Liverpool's desire to keep their No. 1 led Juventus to target Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, who is now uncertain as Villa close in on Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma, while Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario is set to join Juventus on loan.
Alisson played in Sunday's victory over Como and reiterated his commitment, saying: "All the boys did well, the back four did really well, the players in midfield run a lot and fight a lot to get the results and that's the spirit we have to keep on going for the next games. I am really excited and looking forward, but [with] feet on the ground. We dream big but we work hard. That's the thing we have to do. We still have things to improve and don't have consistency for the full game, but we are going to get there."
