Worst UK Fish and Chip Shop: YouTube Reviewer's Verdict
Worst UK Chippy: YouTube Reviewer's Verdict

YouTube food critic Gary Hanna visited St George's Plaice in Llandudno, a fish and chip shop dubbed the worst in the UK with a 1.6 out of 5 Tripadvisor rating. Despite a picturesque location and protective netting against seagulls, his experience confirmed the damning reviews.

Initial Impressions and Menu Shortages

Upon arrival, the staff listed numerous unavailable items, so Gary settled for pollock and chips with a sausage, mushy peas, and curry sauce. The first chip showed promise, but the pollock was greasy with hollow batter. "It's lacking in any quantity of fish whatsoever," he remarked on his GaryEats YouTube channel. The fish was mushy and unpleasant.

High Prices and Poor Quality

The pollock cost £9.95, chips £3.95, sausage £4.45, and small pots of curry sauce and mushy peas £2.25 each. Gary called the curry sauce "disgraceful" and the sausage a basic catering-grade product: "That's a disaster. £4.50 for a sausage? You're having a bubble, mate." A seagull later stole the sausage.

Refund Request and Owner Response

Gary returned his meal, telling staff, "That is the worst fish and chips known to mankind." The server offered a refund, noting, "Normally, we just have people coming in and just throwing it back at us." Gary commented, "I'm definitely not the first person that's gone back in." He urged the owners to improve, saying the young staff must find it awful.
