A San Diego woman was left stunned after discovering an entire Le Creuset collection in a charity shop, with each item priced between $79 (£58) and $99 (£73). The haul, all in the same Sea Salt colour, would have cost more than £1,400 if bought brand new.
Unexpected find in local charity shop
Edden Dreiman shared her discovery on Instagram, writing: "The thrift gods were with me today." The collection was displayed in a glass cabinet and included two large oven dishes, a pot with a lid, several Dutch ovens, a shallow casserole dish with a lid, and other pieces.
Every item was in the Sea Salt colour, a delicate, blue-tinged green shade. Edden picked up two oven dishes, a third with a slightly different design, a Modern Heritage round casserole dish with lid, the shallow dish, and one of the Dutch ovens with its lid.
Value of the haul
If purchased new, these items would have cost more than £1,400, with some pieces priced over £350. Edden did not disclose the exact amount she paid, but the visible price stickers suggest she secured a significant bargain.
In the caption, she wrote: "Someone come check on me because I fear I have died and gone to thrift heaven!"
Reactions and pricing debate
Followers reacted with amazement, with one commenting: "NOOOO WAY! You not only found the treasure, but it also came in the perfect colour." Another wrote: "Oh wow and the colour!!" A third added: "My girl!!! WHATTT?!?! The colour is beautiful too!!!"
However, some questioned the pricing, arguing it was steeper than typical charity shop prices. One critic said: "But the prices are not thrift prices." Another asked: "Please tell me why Goodwill is no longer basically considered a thrift store now. They are getting out of hand with their pricing on many things now. Its pretty sad! Fantastic find though for sure."
Despite the debate, Edden remained delighted with her find, expressing her enthusiasm in the comments.
