Revamped Arcade, Children's Home and HMO Among Latest Plans

North Tyneside Council has received a series of planning applications covering a revamped arcade, a new children's home, and multiple residential conversions. The proposals span Whitley Bay, Longbenton, North Shields, Wallsend, and Dudley.

Whitley Bay Arcade Revamp

Tyne Tees Entertainments, based at 15–25 Marine Avenue in Whitley Bay, has applied to remove existing illuminated signage and 3D metalwork from the façade. The work would replace them with new LED-lit signage and new cladding, modernising the arcade's appearance.

Residential Conversions and HMO

At 15 East Percy Street in North Shields, an application seeks a change of use from business to residential dwellings. The building would be reconfigured internally into four residential flats, with rooflights added to the front and rear.

At 50 Norman Terrace in Wallsend, internal alterations are proposed to convert a dwelling into a six-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO).

Children's Home and Other Works

At 102 Lynn Road in North Shields, a change of use from a house to a children's residential care home for two children has been applied for.

Other applications include: demolition of an old outhouse at 12 Ashdown Close in Longbenton; a bike and bin store with UPVC white cladding at 4 Cauldwell Close in Whitley Bay; and a change of use of land from open space to a private garden with a timber fence at 29 Sams Court in Dudley.
