Brombil Reservoir, a picturesque beauty spot near Port Talbot that went viral on TikTok during the Covid-19 pandemic, has introduced a mandatory £2 entry fee per person. Visitors who fail to pay could face a £100 penalty or legal action, according to the site's owners, Leisure Estate Investments Ltd.
New Payment System and Surveillance
Visitors are now required to pay the £2 fee online before accessing the site. The management has warned that surveillance cameras are in operation to enforce the policy. Additionally, anyone caught littering will be fined £1,000.
The reservoir management stated: "This message is from Brombil Reservoir Management. We have implemented an entry fee of £2 for access to the site. This measure is primarily intended to deter public visitation as the site, including the reservoir, is private property. Failure to remit fees would invite penalty of £100."
Prohibited Activities and Liability
All recreational activities, including swimming, hiking, motorbiking, filming, and camping, are prohibited without prior written consent from the management. The owners emphasized that the reservoir continues to discourage public access.
"Anyone choosing to visit does so entirely at their own risk. We accept no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss, damage, or harm to persons or property arising from visits to the reservoir," the management added.
Background and Sale
The manmade reservoir gained social media fame for its striking turquoise water and serene woodland setting. Despite being widely used as a walking spot, it is privately owned and not council-owned. In September 2024, the one-acre pool and surrounding valley area were auctioned off for £20,000, after initially being listed with a guide price of £75,000.
