Harrogate, a spa town in North Yorkshire, has become the UK's top buyer of the largest dildos, according to Lovehoney's 2026 Sex Map. The average dildo purchased in Harrogate measures 7.35 inches, a significant jump from last year when the town didn't even make the top five.
Hereford's reign ends
Last year's leader, Hereford, saw its average purchase size at 7.13 inches, but that has now been surpassed. For context, a 7.35-inch dildo is slightly shorter than a 20cm ruler or about the size of a medium banana.
This size is notably larger than the average UK penis size, which stands at 5.63 inches. Interestingly, the UK has seen an 8.9% increase in penis length over two years, placing it eighth globally for growth, though it ranks 60th overall in size.
Top five and bottom five
Blackpool came in second with an average of 7.33 inches, followed by Huddersfield at 7.32 inches. Preston and Coventry rounded out the top five with 7.29 and 7.27 inches respectively. These figures are above the national average dildo size of 7.07 inches in 2026, up from 6.84 inches the previous year.
None of last year's top five (Hereford, Jersey, Inverness, Twickenham, and Hemel Hempstead) made the cut this time.
On the other end, Llandrindod Wells in Powys, Wales, bought the smallest dildos, averaging 6.64 inches. West London followed at 6.68 inches, the Isle of Man at 6.77 inches, Paisley at 6.80 inches, and East London at 6.81 inches.
Where are the most sex toys bought?
Beyond dildos, Lovehoney also revealed which areas buy the most sex toys overall. In England, Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire topped the list, while Alloa near Stirling led in Scotland, and Enniskillen in County Fermanagh took the top spot in Northern Ireland.
In Wales, the region of Clwyd proved the raunchiest, with Mold purchasing the most toys nationwide, followed by Abergele, Rhyl, and Wrexham.
