Ming Foods Limited: UK Chinese Food Supplier Collapses

Ming Foods Limited, a family-founded company that has supplied Chinese food to restaurants across the UK for over four decades, has plunged into administration. The Kent-based business, which specialises in the production of Chinese pancakes, spring roll wrappers, and self-raising flour, was placed under administration on June 24, 2026, according to a notice on The Gazette, the UK government's official public record.

Company Background and Rise

Founded in 1984 by Mr and Mrs Minh, the company started humbly from their home kitchen before expanding into a restaurant and eventually a manufacturing business. Operating from Maidstone Road in Swanley, Kent, Ming Foods grew to supply oriental wholesalers across the UK and the European Union, who then distributed the products to supermarket chains and restaurants.

The company's flagship product is its premium Chinese pancake, which they describe on their website as “premium.” Ming Foods also innovated by adapting a pasta roller into a piece of equipment to improve pancake quality.

Financial Decline and Administration

In recent years, the business faced mounting financial difficulties. According to Company Check, total current liabilities had been steadily increasing since 2020, while net worth and cash reserves decreased over the same period. On Companies House, Ming Foods had three outstanding charges, and its full accounts have not been made public since 2024, with accounts listed as overdue.

The administration process will be overseen by Steven Wright from The Dains Group in Scotland. Just before entering administration, the company appointed a director for only six days before terminating that appointment, indicating management instability.

Impact and Uncertain Future

It remains unclear whether trading has ceased or if jobs are at risk. Both the company and the administrators have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded. Ming Foods is the latest food business to succumb to financial pressures, joining a growing list of UK food suppliers facing administration amid challenging economic conditions.
