Manchester United are set to sell academy graduate Toby Collyer to West Bromwich Albion in a deal that could be worth just under £8million. Collyer, 22, is a product of the Red Devils' youth system and went on to make 13 appearances for the first team after making his debut during the 2024/25 season.
Loan spell and return
He was sent out on loan last season, having joined West Brom on a temporary basis before moving to Hull - the latter earning promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs. But injuries limited Collyer to just 17 appearances between the two clubs.
The midfielder returned to Manchester this summer for Michael Carrick's first pre-season but United have now made the decision to cash in on Collyer.
Deal details and add-ons
According to The Athletic, West Brom have agreed to pay an initial £3m for his signature, with considerable add-ons that could see the deal rise as high as £7.6m. The majority of the add-ons are considered to be achievable, while others hinge on West Brom returning to the Premier League, playing in Europe and Collyer representing England.
United have also reportedly slotted a sell-on clause into the agreement worth around 40 per cent. West Brom have beaten off competition from a number of their Championship rivals to land Collyer.
Competition and midfield revamp
Both his former club Hull, as well as promotion favourites Middlesbrough, made offers but Collyer has opted for a return to the Hawthorns. His exit is the latest move by United in the heart of midfield.
Casemiro departed at the end of last season, with United moving for three Premier League midfielders to replace him. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans arrived from Chelsea and Aston Villa early in the window, while the Red Devils recently secured a deal for Carlos Baleba for £65m plus £5m in add-ons from Brighton.

Speaking about his new addition, United boss Michael Carrick said: "Yeah, listen, we're delighted to have Carlos. He has huge potential, massive potential. It's a really exciting signing for us.
"The quality that he has, and attributes he has offsets the balance of the group a little bit. Different strengths, different combinations. For us to have that, we're absolutely delighted to have him. There's so much more to come from him as well, which, with the player that he already is, with that little bit more to come, is exciting for us."
Baleba is unable to make his debut this weekend against Ipswich Town as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
