Newsboy's Wednesday Racing Tips: Lingfield Nap & Haydock Double
Newsboy's Wednesday Racing Tips: Lingfield Nap

Racing expert Newsboy has delivered his comprehensive selections for Wednesday's quartet of UK meetings, headlined by a confident Nap at Lingfield and a strong each-way chance at Haydock to complete a lucrative Daily Double.

Lingfield Nap Fancies Hat-Trick Victory

The spotlight falls on the all-weather at Lingfield this Wednesday, where Lahina Bay (3.05, Nap) is tipped to continue his impressive winning streak. The progressive five-year-old, trained by the partnership of Rachel Cook and John Bridger, seeks a third consecutive victory in the 6f Make The Move to Midnite Handicap.

In superb form, the son of Cracksman made all to win at Bath in late October before proving his versatility with a determined success over this course and distance just last week. Ridden on both occasions by Rhys Clutterbuck, who retains the ride, he showed a smart turn of foot to lead inside the final furlong. Newsboy believes Lahina Bay can overcome a 5lb penalty for that latest win and secure a notable hat-trick.

Haydock Hope to Bounce Back

Over the jumps at Haydock, the eye is drawn to Small Town Hero (12.38, Next Best) in the FDL Packaging Group Conditional Jockey’s Handicap Hurdle. Trained by Ian Donoghue, the five-year-old had strung together four straight wins before an uncharacteristically error-strewn round at Punchestown last time out saw him finish fourth.

Prior to that blip, the gelding had shown tremendous consistency, winning handicap hurdles at Roscommon and Wexford (twice) before stepping up to land a handicap chase at Downpatrick. Conor Stone-Walsh, who partnered him to that five-and-a-half-length chase victory, takes the ride again. A return to that fluent jumping form could see Small Town Hero prove very hard to beat in this three-mile contest.
