Former Adelaide Crows player Lachlan Murphy has announced the arrival of his first child, a baby girl, with his fiancée Madison Steer. The couple shared the joyful news and a series of intimate family photos over the weekend.
A Heartwarming Announcement
Lachlan Murphy, 26, took to social media to reveal that his partner had given birth to their daughter, Willow Gabrielle Murphy, on November 28, 2025, at 7:26pm. In a heartfelt caption accompanying a gallery of images, the new father praised his partner, writing, "Mum is an absolute superstar, Dad played his role and Willow is a genuine champion."
The photos captured tender moments of the new family, including Murphy wearing a t-shirt declaring him a 'Proud Member: Girl Dads Club' as he cradled his newborn. Another precious clip showed him kissing Willow's forehead, while a separate image revealed the baby girl sleeping peacefully in her cot, wrapped in a personalised pink blanket.
Congratulations from the AFL Community
The announcement was swiftly met with an outpouring of love and congratulations from friends and colleagues in the Australian Football League. Well-wishers included AFLW star Chelsea Randall, radio host and former player Ryan Fitzgerald, and Murphy's former Crows teammate Luke Nankervis. Adelaide captain Taylor Walker also expressed his excitement with a simple, "Oh boy wow."
Looking to the Future
The birth comes during a period of significant change for Murphy. After playing over 100 games for the Adelaide Crows between 2018 and 2025, he was delisted at the end of the recent season. However, he has already secured his football future, signing with reigning Southern Football League premiers, Port Noarlunga, for the 2025 season.
Murphy had previously expressed his enthusiasm for the move, telling local media, "I'm really excited to join Port Noarlunga and get back to grassroots footy. The club has a proud history and a great community vibe. I can't wait to contribute on and off the field." The couple, who announced their engagement in September 2024, are now embarking on their next chapter as parents while Murphy prepares for his new role in community football.
