Hegseth Hearing Disrupted by Anti-War Protester

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth returned to Capitol Hill on Thursday for his second day of intense questioning regarding his management of the Iran war, as senators had their first opportunity to interrogate him. The previous day, Hegseth endured a nearly six-hour hearing before the House Armed Services Committee, where he faced sharp criticism from Democrats and some Republicans over the financial and human toll of the conflict, as well as concerns about dwindling weapons stockpiles.

Protester Disruption

During his opening statement before the Senate Armed Services Committee, a protester interrupted the proceedings by unfurling a sign and shouting, "Pete Hegseth, you're a war criminal," before being swiftly removed by Capitol Police. Following this disruption, several other individuals wearing similar pink shirts also quickly exited the hearing room.

Chairman's Response

Committee Chairman Republican Sen. Roger Wicker continued the hearing, acknowledging the importance of First Amendment rights but warning that any further disruptions would result in removal. The incident highlighted the intense emotions surrounding the ongoing war and Hegseth's role in it.
