Casemiro has urged Manchester United to hand the managerial reins to Michael Carrick on a permanent basis, insisting the interim boss has proven his credentials beyond doubt.
Carrick's Impressive Interim Tenure
Carrick has overseen a remarkable turnaround since replacing the sacked Ruben Amorim. Under his guidance, United have recorded 12 wins from 17 matches, suffering only two defeats, and secured Champions League qualification. Club executives are expected to finalise their decision after the season concludes. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to appoint a manager swiftly to allow for summer planning.
While the club continues to evaluate candidates such as Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Andoni Iraola, Casemiro believes Carrick has created a dilemma for the hierarchy by outperforming expectations.
Casemiro's Endorsement
The Brazilian midfielder, who will leave Old Trafford in the summer, shared his thoughts on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel. He stated: "It's a big problem because he deserves to stay. The team plays very well under Carrick. He will win any games. The team improves day by day. Game by game the team improves."
Casemiro added: "For me it's a big problem, because in my opinion, he deserved this opportunity. He deserves the opportunity because the team is very comfortable. The team plays very well. We have big wins - big ones. So for me he deserved this opportunity."
Comparing Carrick to Ancelotti
The 34-year-old drew parallels between Carrick's man-management style and that of serial winner Carlo Ancelotti. "For me he plays at this level. He knows what the players' feelings are. Ancelotti, he is a big manager because he understands. He played. He knows what the players need to listen to, and he pushes, but he knows the time to push."
Casemiro concluded: "For me, the best thing is he knows about the club. He understands the club. So for me he deserves it. Absolutely, in my opinion, he should stay."
