Police Scotland have initiated an investigation after a man was violently attacked at a hotel in Aberdeen that has been used to accommodate asylum seekers. The incident occurred at approximately 10.45am on Friday, 28 November, 2025, at the Hampton by Hilton hotel located in the Westfield area of the city.

According to authorities, a 26-year-old man sustained facial injuries after being assaulted by a group of men. Officers responding to the report at the Gordon Park premises in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, arrested three men in connection with the assault. A significant development in the case was the recovery of a weapon from the scene.
Police Scotland have moved to reassure the local community, stating that they believe the incident is contained and that there is no wider risk to the public. Enquiries into the violent attack remain ongoing, with officers continuing their presence at the hotel.

The incident has prompted immediate concern from local representatives. Andrew Bowie, the MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, described the event as "very troubling" and confirmed he has previously been in contact with police regarding security at the hotel, which has been used to house asylum seekers since 2023.
"I will revisit this on behalf of the community," Bowie stated, emphasising that the police must now be given the "time and space to investigate this incident." This attack occurs against a backdrop of heightened local tension, with several protests by anti-immigration groups and counter-protests taking place in the area in recent months.
A Home Office spokesperson strongly condemned the violence, stating: "This is a horrific incident and our thoughts go out to those affected. Violence in asylum seeker accommodation is not acceptable and any perpetrators will face the full force of the law." The spokesperson reaffirmed that the safety and wellbeing of all asylum seekers remains a priority for the department.
