Police Launch Hunt for Missing US Tourist in Scottish Highlands

An urgent search is underway for an American tourist who has been reported missing while hiking in the Scottish Highlands. Police Scotland have launched an appeal to locate Adam Chalmers, 36, who was last heard from at 12:40pm on Saturday in the Ben Lawers mountain range.

Details of the Missing Person

Adam Chalmers had planned to scale the Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh, and An Stuc Munros. In his last message, he indicated that he had one more peak left to complete. He is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, of stocky build, bald with a medium-length brown beard. He was last seen wearing a green and blue triangle-patterned fleece, a grey and black waterproof jacket, green walking trousers, a blue cap, and brown boots. He was carrying a rucksack with orange elastic ties.

Police Appeal for Information

Inspector Iain Gillies said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information on Adam’s whereabouts to come forward as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to speak with any fellow hillwalkers who were in the Lawers area on Saturday and may have seen Adam or knows anything which could help pinpoint his location and route.”
