ITV has confirmed a significant schedule change, as Alison Hammond’s programme ‘For the Love of Dogs’ takes over the slot previously occupied by the popular game show ‘Celebrity Lingo’. The word-based competition, hosted by Good Morning Britain star Adil Ray, will not air in its usual Tuesday evening slot this week.
Celebrity Lingo’s Absence from ITV Schedule
‘Celebrity Lingo’ first premiered in 2022, featuring pairs of celebrities competing to solve 4- and 5-letter word puzzles, akin to the online game Wordle, to win money for charity. The show recently broadcast its tenth episode of the second series, with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK stars Tia Kofi and Danny Beard facing off against former England goalkeeper David Seaman and his wife, Dancing on Ice professional Frankie Seaman. However, this week, viewers will not see the programme in its regular 7:30 pm slot.
Alison Hammond’s For the Love of Dogs Takes Over
Instead, ITV will air the third series of ‘For the Love of Dogs’, hosted by Alison Hammond. The This Morning presenter took over the role in 2024 following the death of the original host, Paul O’Grady. The show follows Hammond at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as she helps rescue dogs find new homes. The series is known for its heartwarming and emotional stories, featuring dogs receiving medical treatment and behavioural training from experts.
Speaking about the new series, Alison Hammond expressed her excitement: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be heading back to Battersea. My heart was truly stolen by the brave pups I met last time, and I’ve been itching to get back, roll up my sleeves, and help these gorgeous animals find the love they deserve. There’s a special kind of magic in seeing a dog’s tail wag for the first time after a tough start, and I can’t wait to share that with everyone at home.”
The six-part series promises a blend of humour, tears, and triumphs as Hammond immerses herself in the daily life of the rescue centre. Peter Laurie, Chief Executive of Battersea, added: “Battersea is excited to welcome another series of ‘For the Love of Dogs’ to TV screens this Spring, where Alison will once again be sharing the heartfelt stories of some of the dogs that have come into our care recently. Guaranteed not to be a dry eye in the house, viewers will follow the journey of dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes to find a home to call their own.”
‘For the Love of Dogs’ airs Wednesdays on ITV from 7:30 pm.
