Caleb Shomo Comes Out as Gay, Supported by Wife

Rockstar Caleb Shomo, lead singer of Beartooth, has publicly come out as a 'proudly gay man', with his wife of 14 years offering her heartfelt support. In an emotional Instagram post, the 33-year-old musician revealed his sexuality, stating that he had been 'unpacking and reckoning' with it for some time.

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Shomo, who first gained fame with metalcore band Attack Attack! before forming Beartooth, admitted that suppressing his sexuality took a huge emotional toll. He explained that he spent a decade 'burying feelings with alcohol', but quitting drinking allowed him to explore his true feelings. 'It's been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead to me experiencing self love,' he wrote.

The singer also promised that his upcoming music will reflect this new chapter, expressing himself more honestly than ever before. 'I will only do what makes me happy at the deepest level and what is the most honest depiction of who I am,' he declared. This marks a significant shift from his earlier work, which often delved into self-hatred and mental health struggles.

Wife's Emotional Response

Fleur Shomo, who married Caleb in April 2012, shared her own statement online, describing the past few months as 'incredibly painful' but affirming her unwavering support. 'I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world,' she wrote. She acknowledged the confusion and pain Caleb experienced, while also grappling with her own feelings of loss and anger. 'To support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out,' she added.

Despite the heartbreak, Fleur insisted their marriage was genuine and full of love. 'Our nearly 14 years of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure and love. Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do,' she wrote. 'Our story was a good one. And now it's done.' The couple do not have children.

Fans have flooded Fleur's social media with messages of support, acknowledging the complexity of the situation. Shomo's coming out has been met with widespread encouragement, as he embarks on a path toward self-acceptance and authenticity.
