Teen Stabbed at Clapham Common Brawl; Nine Arrested
Clapham Common Stabbing: Nine Teens Arrested

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a violent brawl on Clapham Common in London, leading to the arrest of nine youths. The incident occurred at an 'unauthorised gathering' promoted as 'Clapham Court Connect' on May 22, which attracted hundreds of young people celebrating the start of the May half-term.

Chaos Erupts at Promoted Event

The event, heavily promoted on social media by Greasy Events with the tagline 'good vibes, bad behaviour', quickly spiralled out of control. Attendees began fighting, and the teenager sustained multiple stab wounds. Police were called to disperse the crowds and break up the altercation.

Footage shared online showed a group of youths viciously attacking each other, with one person in a grey tracksuit beaten to the ground. Officers pushed through the crowds to make arrests, with some videos showing police running after suspects with batons and pinning them to the floor. The Metropolitan Police's Territorial Support Group also deployed vehicles on the common to manage the unruly crowds.

Emergency Response and Arrests

Medics were seen wheeling away a person on a stretcher under a yellow blanket, and emergency services remained on scene into the night. The 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital, where his condition was described as 'neither life-changing nor life-threatening'.

Police arrested nine individuals: a 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy for possession of a knife; two boys aged 14 and 16 for grievous bodily harm and affray; an 18-year-old for assaulting a police officer; and four boys (one aged 16, two aged 17, and one aged 19) for affray. All remained in police custody at the time of reporting.

Underage Drinking and Police Appeal

Reports indicated that rum punch was being sold at the event despite most attendees being underage. The event promoter, Greasy Events, has been approached for comment.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson urged anyone with information to come forward, stating: 'We were called on Friday, 22 May to an unauthorised gathering on Clapham Common. The group were dispersed by officers after fighting broke out... A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was found suffering with stab wounds. All of those arrested remain in police custody.'

Police will maintain a presence in the area and review CCTV evidence in the coming days.
