Car Crashes Into Home in Peterborough, Two Injured

A shocking new image reveals a scene of devastation after a car ploughed into a pensioner's home in Peterborough, leaving two people with serious injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 6pm on Sunday evening on Paston Ridings, when a blue Ford Mondeo collided with stationary vehicles before crashing into the front of a house.

A woman in her 70s, who was inside the property at the time, and the motorist, a man in his 40s, were both rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Residents living nearby described the aftermath as 'chaos' as emergency services descended on the scene.

Neighbour Accounts

Greg Hilliam, a local resident, told Cambridgeshire Live: 'I didn't hear a thing, the only thing I heard was the sirens. I looked out of the window and thought what the hell is going on? My first thought was also how did it get to this state? However, cars do bomb down here. I've been here for 39 years and nothing like that has happened.'

Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said his family were woken by the 'commotion'. He recounted: 'My sister said people were gawping. The car came through the hedge.' He also praised a neighbour who rushed to help, calling them a 'hero'.

A third man described hearing 'lots of sirens' and said: 'I didn't think anything of it but then my wife looked out of the window. We saw one car on its side and another flipped over. I thought someone may be seriously hurt. If so, I hope they are ok.'

One neighbour described returning home to find the scene 'scary' and wondering 'what had happened'.

Police Investigation

A cordon remained in place at the scene on Monday as police continued their investigation. Cambridgeshire Constabulary issued a statement appealing for witnesses: 'We are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Paston Ridings yesterday. A blue Ford Mondeo was driving along the residential road when it crashed into a house and stationary vehicles at about 6pm. Police and paramedics attended and the driver, a 40-year-old man from Peterborough, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 70-year-old woman, who was inside the house at the time, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. Officers are appealing for information and dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicle in the time leading up to it.'
