Android Users May Get $135M Google Settlement Payout

Google has agreed to a $135 million settlement in a lawsuit alleging that its Android operating system transferred user data without permission, even when devices were idle. The lawsuit claimed these unauthorized data transfers occurred in the background, consuming users' cellular data without their knowledge or consent.

Who Is Eligible for the Settlement?

To qualify for a portion of the settlement, individuals must be U.S. residents who used an Android device with a cellular data plan at any time since November 12, 2017. An estimated 100 million people are eligible for this settlement, with a final approval hearing scheduled for June 23. Eligible class members will receive payments electronically, though the exact amount each individual will receive has not yet been determined.

How to Claim Your Share

Those who believe they are eligible should monitor official settlement notices for instructions on filing a claim. The settlement website will provide details once the claim process opens. Google denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation.
